With the arrival of Star-Lord’s father-by-blood, Ego, played by ’80s icon Kurt Russell, is the most intriguing addition to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. He’s a living planet in human form (So, he is living on itself….?), he’s neither a hero nor a villain, his intentions are unclear from the trailers, and his relationship with Star-Lord will form a significant part of the narrative in James Gunn’s sequel. Not every moment in the trailer is easily seen unless you take the time to slow down the trailer a bit. That said, here’s everything you probably missed in the most recent trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
WARNING: Potential spoilers for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 may follow (We warned you)
Was Ego The Cause Of Star-Lord’s Mother’s Cancer?

Meredith Quill dies in Guardians Of The Galaxy when Peter Quill is still a young boy. At the time, the identity of Peter’s father is a mystery, but Meredith promises he will one day return to care for Peter. She refers to his father as “an angel, composed of pure light” shortly before she passes away.
Her death deviates from the comic book storyline. She falls in love with Jason of Spartax (also known as J’Son) — the Emperor of the Spartoi Empire — and has a child with him. Rather than dying from cancer, Meredith was killed by Badoon soldiers, the enemies of J’Son, making him indirectly responsible for her death. Being able to take human form Ego was able to create a child with Meredith. But, due to the unusual genetic structure, he unintentionally caused her cancer, leading to her death and a story arc similar to the comics.
Peter’s Stereo Sound System For His Walkman
Peter’s boombox was partially destroyed in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1 but enough of it was left for Peter to salvage the Walkman. Now, it looks like Peter Quill has repaired the whole setup and is it playing Awesome Mixtape #2…..? we can’t really see (leave in comments if you can)
The Guardians Have Accumulated New Armory
Gamora And Peter’s Relationship Develops
The budding relationship teased between Peter Quill and Gamora in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1 has apparently developed further since we last saw them. The newest trailer provides us with a few glimpses at Gamora and Peter dancing.
Nebula Has An Axe To Grind With Gamora
So far, most of the promotional images for GOTG2 have depicted Nebula alongside the Guardians as part of the team. While she does appear to eventually does join the team, her actions prove otherwise, as she can be seen angrily flying the Milano at Gamora with guns blazing (Was she being controlled by anyone?).
Mantis’ Association With Ego
Mantis can’t be seen when the camera pans up to Ego but she’s definitely standing by his side. And another similar image in some kind of pod (On Ego “Planet” WOW it sounds gross) Mantis is talking with Peter and team suggest same but she will eventually join Peter’s side.
Drax Gets A Spacesuit To Fight In Space
The image above depicts Drax in a suit allowing him to fight in space. The suit he’s wearing appears to be made of some sort of laser/Plasma grid, making it possible for Drax to fight in the space.
Are They Trying To Explode Ego…?
In this scene, Rocket and Peter looks like, are inside Ego (What…….?) and trying to explode his heart using the bomb (first trailer ‘Baby Groot’).
