As the year reaches its climax, ASUS introduces two powerhouse smartphones – Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Zenfone Max M2. They are successors to the Zenfone Max Pro (M1), which were introduced last year.
The two Zenfone are unbeatable performers packed with some incredible features. The price of Zenfone Max Pro M2 begins with Rs. 12,999 and the price of Zenfone Max M2 is Rs. 9,999.
The Zenfone Max (M2) is introduced with a 6.3-inch HD+ display screen (1520 x 720 resolution). The powerhouse smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor.
The rear camera of Zenfone Max (M2) is 13MP + 2MP, whereas its front camera is 8MP. It instils the fingerprint sensor and face unlock to maintain the security of the device. The unbeatable smartphone of ASUS comprises a battery of 4000 mAh. Also, the mobile phone will run on stock Android Oreo 8.1 with a promise of Android Pie 9 update in January 2019.
The two RAM and storage variants include 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB. The price of Zenfone Max (M2) is Rs. 9,999.
The ASUS ZenFone Max M2 is the lower-specced sibling to the Max Pro M2. Featuring a lower resolution display, lower RAM and storage and a more modest camera setup, the device allows ASUS to cover a different price segment instead of launching two similar-specced devices and confusing the user. The device features a metallic build, which is a safe bet at this price range.
What’s in the Box
Asus still seems to be figuring out the vibe of its budget smartphone packaging and has grown up from the bland gray and blue aesthetic. The ZenFone Max M2 comes packed inside a slick black cardboard box, which you can slide out to gain access to all the contents listed down below:
- ZenFone Max M2 (Black)
- 10W charging adapter
- microUSB charging cable
- SIM ejector tool
- Clear silicone case
- User Manual & leaflets
It’s good to see Asus include a silicone case within the box as there’s no Gorilla Glass 6 protection on board here as is the case with the ZenFone Max Pro M2.
Design and Build
Right off the bat, when you take the ZenFone Max M2 out of the box, you will see that the smartphone holds an uncanny resemblance to the ZenFone Max Pro M1, in terms of the rear design. The placement of the dual cameras, the fingerprint scanner, and even the location of the Asus branding are identical. It also has a textured powere button which feels good and help differentiating the button.
Another important aspect of the design this year is the inclusion of a notched display on Asus’ budget smartphones. The ZenFone Max M2 comes with a massive 6.26-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen that holds the notch. The notch on this smartphone includes a deep-seated earpiece at the center, which also hides a notification LED, a selfie camera, and a soft LED flash. But the only thing that was missing from this phone was an HD display (it’s 2019 there should be flying cars till now and we don’t even have an HD display, c’mon) and Asus Please udate you camera app UI. Other than that every thing is great and if these werenot the issue I woul gladly use the phone as my daily driver. But if you don’t mind 720p display and are strict on budget M2 is definately a great choice.
